Construction on Interstate 49 Requires Lane Closures in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY (9-14) – Construction on the Interstate 49 shoulder in Johnson and
Springdale requires nighttime lane closures, according to Arkansas Department of
Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will install temporary barrier walls on the inside shoulders of
northbound and southbound Interstate 49 north of the Clear Creek bridge. The inside lane
will be closed between Mile Markers 68 and 70 to perform the work. Placement of the
temporary barrier walls will close a portion of the inside shoulders for approximately a week
to perform drainage work.

The overnight lane closures will be in effect Monday night, September 17 through
Tuesday morning, September 18.
The northbound lane will be closed between 8:00 p.m.
and 6:00 a.m.,
and the southbound lane will be closed between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels.
