Improvements to Highway 57 Require Temporary Closure to Through Traffic

UNION COUNTY (9-14) – Improvements to State Highway 57 (Stephens Highway) requires
temporary closure to through traffic, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation
(ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will close Stephens Highway between U.S. Highway 82 (Magnolia
Highway) and Mount Holly beginning 7:00 a.m. Monday, September 17 through 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 20
to replace five pipe culverts. Through traffic will not be permitted,
but local traffic will be allowed.

Traffic will detour along Stephens Highway to U.S. Highway 79 (North First Street) in
Stephens and State Highway 160 (Mount Holly Highway) to State Highway 7 (Smackover
Highway) at Smackover.

Traffic will be controlled with signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution
when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
