Construction on U.S. Hwy 67 Requires Lane Closures in Pulaski and Lonoke Counties

PULASKI & LONOKE COUNTIES (03-22) – Construction to widen U.S. Highway 67 between
Jacksonville and Cabot requires northbound and southbound lane closures, including 15-
minute all-lane closures, in Pulaski and Lonoke counties, according to Arkansas Department
of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, northbound and southbound lanes on U.S. Highway 67 will be closed
between Vandenberg Boulevard and State Highway 5 to perform pavement striping, pour
concrete, and hang overhead signs. The overhead sign installation will require all traffic in
one direction to be stopped for 15-minute intervals. These nighttime lane closures will occur
Sunday, March 24 through Saturday, March 30.

  • Southbound traffic will be reduced to one open lane on various nights between
7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The inside and outside lanes will alternately be closed, and
there will be 15-minute periods when both lanes are closed to hang overhead signs.
  • Northbound traffic will be reduced to one open lane on various nights between
8:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. the following afternoon. The inside and outside lanes will
alternately be closed, and there will be 15-minute periods when both lanes are closed
    to hang overhead signs.

Traffic will be controlled with construction barrels and signage, with assistance from the
Arkansas State Police. Advance warning signs will be placed to notify traffic approaching the
closures. The public is advised to be cautious if traveling in this work zone and are
encouraged to find alternative routes to avoid the highway closure.

This project (Job CA0605) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes
widening 4.6 miles of U.S. Highway 67 from Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville to State
Highway 5 in Cabot. The highway is being widened to three lanes in each direction. More
information on this $79.2 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work
zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You
