Old Bridge Pier Demolition to Temporarily Close Highway 41 near Sevier & Little River County Line

LITTLE RIVER COUNTY (4-2) – Demolition of piers for the old State Highway 41 Little River
bridge will require a temporary closure on the new State Highway 41 Little River bridge,
according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews with Jensen Construction plan to stop both directions of traffic
on State Highway 41 just south of Horatio, at the Sevier and Little River County line on
Wednesday, April 3, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. for a blasting operation to remove
concrete piers in the river channel.

The closure should last approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the detonation and
inspection of the driving lanes for any debris.

The project to replace the State Highway 41 Little River Bridge was awarded to Jensen
Construction in March of 2016 for $13,965,914.82. The new bridge opened to traffic on
February 26, 2019. Major work remaining includes constructing county road connections,
removal of the old bridge structure, and placing the final layer of asphalt pavement on the
bridge approaches. It is estimated that the project will be substantially complete mid-2019.

Traffic will be controlled with signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution
when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
