Construction Requires Overnight Lane Closures on Interstate 630 in Little Rock

PULASKI COUNTY (4-26) – Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires lane closures in
Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will shift traffic onto two new I-630 ramps at John Barrow Road
(Exit 6B). During this shift, several existing ramps may be closed for 15-minute intervals, and
various lane closures will be in place on I-630.

  • On Tuesday, April 30 between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., the I-630 eastbound
outside lane will be closed between Baptist Health Drive and Rodney Parham Road.
This will allow traffic to shift to the new eastbound exit ramp to John Barrow Road.
  • On Wednesday, May 1, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., the I-630 westbound outside
lane will be closed between University Avenue and Baptist Health Drive. This will
allow traffic to shift to the new westbound entrance ramp from John Barrow Road.

The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone, and drivers may
consider finding alternate routes as delays may occur. Traffic will be controlled using signage
and barrels. Neighborhoods adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during
nighttime hours.

This project (Job CA0608) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program, which is funded
through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. Interstate 630 is being widened to four lanes in each
direction (eight total) for 2.2 miles between the Big Rock Interchange and University Avenue.
The widening is estimated to be complete in early 2020. More information on this $87.4
million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work
zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You
