Routine Inspection of I-40 Mississippi River Bridge Requires Lane Closures

CRITTENDEN COUNTY (6-14) – A routine overhead climbing inspection of the I-40
Mississippi River Bridge requires alternating lane closures between West Memphis and
Memphis, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will alternatingly close an eastbound lane on the I-40 Mississippi
River Bridge but the outside westbound lane will remain closed throughout the inspection.
Starting on Monday, June 17 and continuing through Sunday, June 23 westbound lane
closures will occur between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. while eastbound lane closures will
occur between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Traffic will be controlled with signage, barricades and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise
caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
