Construction to Replace Interstate 49 Overpass Requires Traffic Shift

BENTON COUNTY (7-5) – Construction work replacing the I-49 overpass bridge structure
at Exit 85 in Rogers and Bentonville requires a traffic shift, according to Arkansas
Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will shift northbound I-49 traffic onto the new bridge on Sunday
evening, July 7 starting at 10:00 p.m.
This will allow crews to continue work replacing the
I-49 overpass over U.S. Highway 71B (SE Walton Blvd. & W Walnut St.) in Rogers and
Bentonville.

This project (Job BB0903) is part of ARDOT’s Interstate Rehabilitation Program. This project
is replacing the I-49 overpass bridges and modifying the roadway approaches to a Single
Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) at the U.S. Highway 71B interchange and widening U.S.
Highway 71B from four lanes to six lanes. This project began in September of 2018 and is
expected to be completed in late 2020.

Traffic will be controlled by traffic drums and signage. Drivers should exercise caution when
approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information
