CRAWFORD COUNTY (8-1) – Resurfacing work requires a ramp closure on Interstate 540
in Van Buren, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
The resurfacing work for three overpasses on the ramp that carries traffic from northbound
I-540 to westbound I-40 is estimated to take approximately two weeks, but is dependent
upon weather. Crews will put the following closures in place:
- The ramp from northbound I-540 to westbound I-40 (Exit 1A) will be closed starting
at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night, August 4 and will remain closed until the bridge work
is completed. Please see the attached map for detour details. - The westbound outside lane of I-40 will be closed between mile markers 7 and 8
starting at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night, August 4 and will remain closed until the
bridge work is completed.
Traffic will be controlled by signage, barricades and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise
caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
