Construction Requires Road Closure in Jonesboro

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY (8-19) – Construction along Watt Street between Arkansas Highway
463 (Nettleton Ave.) and Arkansas Highway 18 (Highland Dr.) in Jonesboro requires
temporary road closure, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT)
officials.

Weather permitting, crews will close Watt Street between Nettleton Avenue and Highland
Drive beginning Wednesday, August 21 at 8:00 a.m. to reconstruct the roadway. Detours
will direct traffic around this area by using alternate routes (see attached map). This closure
is anticipated to be complete by spring 2020.

This project (100824) is to construct an overpass for State Highway 18 over the Burlington
Northern Santa Fe Railway railroad crossing. The contract was awarded to Capital Paving
and Construction, LLC in October 2018 for the amount of $25,182,888.88. The project is
estimated to be complete early 2022.

Traffic will be controlled by signage and barricades. Drivers should exercise caution when
approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information
