CRITTENDEN COUNTY (8-30) – Improvements to entrance and exit ramps to Interstate 40
require temporary closure in West Memphis, according to Arkansas Department of
Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will close the westbound entrance and exit ramps to Interstate
40 at State Highway 38 (Martin Luther King Drive) beginning Wednesday, September 4 for
reconstruction. Traffic will take Exit 281 (State Highway 131) and access Martin Luther King
Drive by traveling north or south. Traffic needing access to the westbound entrance ramp to
I-40 will be detoured to the I-55 northbound entrance ramp to transition to I-40 westbound.
The estimated completion of this portion of the project is late October, 2019.
The contractor will then close the eastbound entrance and exit ramps at the same location
with an estimated completion in late December.
Traffic will be controlled with signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution
when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on
