CHICOT COUNTY (9-13) – Improvements to State Highway 160 between Chicot Junction
and Portland require temporary lane closures and detours, according to Arkansas
Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will put the following closures and detours (see attached map)
into place while they are removing and replacing the old bridge that is approximately 4.6
miles west of U.S. Highway 65 (Chicot Junction) and 18 miles east of State Highway 165
(Portland). This work will begin Monday, September 16 and is expected to continue
through Tuesday, October 1, although adjustments may need to be made if weather impacts
the schedule.
- Phase 1: Traffic reduced to a single lane, controlled by a portable signal.
- Phase 2: Road is closed to all traffic.
o Traffic from the south will be detoured onto State Highway 8 (Parkdale).
o Traffic from the north will be detoured onto State Highway 82 (Eudora). - Phase 3: Traffic reduced to a single lane, controlled by a portable signal.
Traffic will be controlled by signage, electronic signal and traffic barrels. Drivers should
exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
