PULASKI COUNTY (9-18) – Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires lane closures at
the exit for Baptist Health (Exit 7) in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of
Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, the eastbound I-630 on-ramp at Baptist Health will be closed to install a
guardrail. This work will occur Thursday, September 19 between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Weather permitting, I-630 eastbound and westbound outside lanes will be closed on either
side of the exit for Baptist Health to move traffic to a new eastbound I-630 on-ramp and
westbound I-630 exit-ramp. This work will occur Saturday, September 21, between 8:00
a.m. and 6:00 p.m. During this time, all lanes of eastbound or westbound traffic may be
stopped for 15-minute intervals.
During these work periods, emergency vehicles will be directed through the closures. The
public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone, and drivers may consider
finding alternate routes as delays may occur. Traffic will be controlled using signage and
barrels. Neighborhoods adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during
nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0608) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program, which is funded
through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. Interstate 630 is being widened to four lanes in each
direction (eight total) for 2.2 miles between the Big Rock Interchange and University Avenue.
The widening is estimated to be complete in early 2020. More information on this $87.4
million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work
zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You
