Improvements to Highway 98 Require Temporary Road Closure in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY (10-25) – Improvements on State Highway 98 require a temporary
road closure near the city of McNeil and the community of Village in Columbia County,
according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will close State Highway 98 between U.S. Highway 79 just north
of McNeil and U.S. Highway 82 at Village to all through traffic, local traffic will still be allowed.
This closure will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28 and estimated to end at
5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. This work will replace three culverts along State
Highway 98.

Traffic will be controlled by traffic barrels and signage. Traffic traveling south on U.S.
Highway 79 will continue south to Magnolia and then take U.S. Highway 82 east towards the
community of Village. Traffic traveling west on U.S. Highway 82 will continue west towards
Magnolia and then take U.S. Highway 79 to return to State Highway 98. Drivers should
exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
