MISSISSIPPI COUNTY (5-1) – A bridge on Highway 77 over an unnamed creek near the
intersection of County Road 1052 has been closed, according to Arkansas Department of
Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
A routine bridge inspection revealed structural deficiencies, resulting in the bridge closure.
The bridge is approximately 5 miles south of Highway 14 near the town of Lepanto. Motorists
should use Interstate 55 or Highway 14 as alternate routes.
This bridge is part of a project that will replace this bridge in late 2020. That project is funded
in part by a federal grant. ARDOT is considering all possible available options to reopen the
bridge in the meantime.
Traffic will be controlled by traffic barrels, signage and barricades. Drivers should exercise
caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on
