CRAIGHEAD COUNTY (7-7) – Bridge work over Interstate 555 in Jonesboro will require
lane closures, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, construction crews will begin applying a polymer overlay to the existing
bridge decks and replacing the joint sealant on the bridges over Interstate 555 Tuesday,
July 7. The following bridges will be included in the work: Willow Road, Red Wolf Boulevard,
Caraway Road, Harrisburg Road, and Southwest Drive. This work will require lane closures
which will occur between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. until the work is complete, which is
estimated to be three weeks.
This construction work is part of job number 100959, a $33.8 million contract awarded to
Koss Construction. The purpose of this project is to reconstruct 4.7 miles of Interstate 555,
between U.S. Highway 63B and State Highway 18 in Jonesboro. The estimated completion
date of this project is mid-2021.
Traffic will be controlled by traffic drums, flaggers, and signage. Drivers should exercise
caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
