BENTON COUNTY (07-14) – Construction to build the new Bella Vista Bypass interchange with
U.S. Highway 71 in Bentonville requires lane closures on Interstate 49, according to Arkansas
Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will close various travel lanes associated with construction of the
new interchange during overnight hours Wednesday night, July 15 through Saturday
morning, July 18. The closures will begin at 8:00 p.m. and end by 6:00 a.m. (Thursday and
Friday mornings) and 10:00 a.m. (Saturday morning). Crews will use flagging operations,
signage, and police enforcement for the following closures connected to the new interchange.
- Alternately close eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 549 for paving.
- Closing southbound lanes on Highway 71/I-49 for paving.
- Alternately closing northbound and southbound lanes on Walton Boulevard for paving.
- Closing ramp lanes from the existing roundabout to I-49 southbound to relocate a barrier
wall.
Watch for warning signs and safety personnel during the work. The public is advised to be
cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds.
This project (Job CA0903) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes
constructing approximately 2.8 miles of roadway with bridge structures on U.S. Highway 549,
including a new Bella Vista Bypass interchange with U.S. Highway 71 in Bentonville. More
