JACKSON COUNTY (5-31) – Maintenance work on the Highway 17 Bridge across Village Creek, just southeast of Newport, means months of recurring closures, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will close the Highway 17 Bridge over Village Creek Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting on Monday, June 7 and continuing for several months until the work is completed. During closures traffic will be detoured across via Highway 14.

Traffic will be controlled by temporary signage and message boards. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
