PULASKI COUNTY (5-20) – A significant closure of westbound Interstate 30 in North Little Rock between the North Terminal Interchange and Broadway Street will allow for rapid construction, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
This single weekend closure will reduce the total number of nightly lane closures required by approximately two weeks, thereby reducing the risk and exposure to motorists as well as construction personnel.
Weather permitting, crews will close all I-30 westbound lanes between the I-40 interchange and Broadway Street in North Little Rock starting on Friday night, May 21 at 10 p.m. and continuing through Monday morning, May 24 at 5 a.m.
In addition, the southbound frontage road on-ramp at Curtis Sykes to I-30 westbound will be closed during this time. Traffic will detour westbound on Curtis Sykes Drive and take Main Street southbound to Broadway Street and the I-30 westbound on-ramp.
As part of this weekend work, the I-30 eastbound left lane will be closed between the river and Bishop Lindsey Avenue from Friday night, May 21 at 8 p.m. to Monday morning, May 24 at 5 a.m.
See attached detour maps NR 21-151-A and NR 21-151-B. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
Once the bridge demolition is complete, this section of Interstate will visibly look different due to a traffic shift. Crews will move all traffic—both eastbound and westbound—to the eastbound side so that they can demolish the existing westbound bridge. Traffic will maintain access to three lanes in each direction at this location.
