UPDATE: Construction Requires Temporary Change in Traffic Pattern at Macy Boulevard in Hot Springs

GARLAND COUNTY | March 11, 2022

Construction to widen Highway 270 (Albert Pike Road) to five lanes in Hot Springs requires a change in the traffic pattern at Macy Boulevard and Highway 227 beginning mid-March.

Weather permitting, crews will temporarily close Macy Boulevard at its connection with Highway 227 (Mountain Pine Road) beginning Monday, March 21 for approximately six weeks. Traffic will access Macy Boulevard from Highway 227 by a temporary road located south of the existing connection and nearer to the intersection with Highway 270.

This traffic pattern will enable crews to perform grading and paving operations as they realign Highway 227 with Highway 270. Traffic will be controlled with message boards, signage, and construction barrels. See travel impact map 22-053-A for additional details. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds.

This project (Job CA0607) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 1.5 miles of Highway 270 to five lanes and bike lanes, extending generally from Fleetwood Drive to Highway 227 in Garland County. This project also includes improvements to the interchange with Hwy. 227. More information on this $22.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
