GARLAND COUNTY | October 17, 2022
Construction to widen Highway 270 (Albert Pike Road) to five lanes in Garland County requires a traffic pattern change and activation of a traffic signal at the intersection with Highway 227 (Mountain Pine Road) in Hot Springs in late October.
Weather permitting, crews will shift Highway 227 southbound traffic onto new pavement adjacent to northbound lanes on the new alignment during the last week of October. This shift will begin north of Macy Boulevard and align southbound traffic with the reconstructed Highway 270/Highway 227 intersection. Access to businesses will be maintained, and Macy Boulevard’s connection to the new pavement will remain open.
In coordination with this shift, the new traffic signal at Highway 270/Highway 227 will be activated. This work will occur during daytime hours and will require intermittent full closures of the intersection to remove the old mast-arm signal and stripe for the new intersection. The intersection will function as a four-way-stop as crews work to activate the signal. The public is encouraged to find alternate routes as significant traffic delays are possible.
Additional information, including a specific closure date and time, will be available before the new traffic pattern begins.
This project (Job CA0607) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 1.5 miles of Highway 270 to five lanes and bike lanes, extending generally from Fleetwood Drive to Highway 227 in Garland County. This project also includes improvements to the interchange with Hwy. 227. More information on this $22.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
