Traffic Pattern Changes Happening at the Highway 270/Highway 227 Intersection in Garland County Oct. 31

GARLAND COUNTY | October 26, 2022

Construction to widen Highway 270 (Albert Pike Road) to five lanes in Garland County requires a traffic pattern change and activation of a traffic signal at its intersection with Highway 227 (Mountain Pine Road) in Hot Springs.

Weather permitting, crews will shift Highway 227 southbound traffic onto new pavement adjacent to northbound lanes on the new alignment during daytime hours Monday, October 31. This shift will begin north of Macy Boulevard and will align southbound traffic with the reconstructed Highway 270/Highway 227 intersection. Access to businesses will be maintained and Macy Boulevard’s connection to the new pavement will remain open.

In coordination with this shift, the new traffic signal at Highway 270/Highway 227 will be activated. Work to activate the traffic signal will occur during daytime hours Monday, October 31 andwill require intermittent full closures of the intersection. The work includes removing the old mast-arm signal and striping the new intersection.

During the work to activate the traffic signal, the intersection will function like a four-way stop with flaggers at each approach. The public is encouraged to find alternate routes as significant traffic delays are possible. See NR 22-268-A for suggested alternate travel routes for Mountain Pine Road and Thornton Ferry Road.
