ARDOT Seeking Input for Amended Section 106 Programmatic Agreement

ALL COUNTIES | December 22, 2023

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), initiated consultation regarding amendments to the existing Section 106 Programmatic Agreement for the Federal-aid Highway Program in Arkansas.

The amendments are proposed to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations, 36 CFR Part 800 – Protection of Historic Properties.

ARDOT invited federal agencies, Indian tribes, state agencies and organizations, city and county organizations, and Certified Local Governments to participate in the consultation process and to provide comments on any proposed changes to the existing Agreement.

FHWA and ARDOT modified the existing Agreement to address comments and update the processes that cover the nature of the program and its likely effects on historic properties.

ARDOT would like to invite the consulting parties and the public to review and comment on the Amended Agreement and notify us of any concerns that you may have regarding this Amended Agreement within 30 days.
