ARDOT To Break Ground on Springdale Bypass, XNA Connector

BENTON COUNTY | April 10, 2024

The public is invited to join members of the Arkansas Highway Commission, Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) leadership, and local dignitaries for a groundbreaking to mark the construction launch of the Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) Connector and Phase Two of the Springdale Bypass.

The groundbreaking event will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 in the Short-Term Parking Lot at XNA.

Phase Two the Springdale Bypass was awarded to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. for $180,787,344. This 7-mile bypass will be a four-lane, divided interstate constructed on new location with interchanges at selected locations from Highway 412 in Tontitown to the Springdale Bypass at Highway 112 in Washington and Benton Counties. The estimated completion date is late 2026. There are four phases to the Springdale Bypass project.

The XNA Connector was awarded to Crossland Construction Company, Inc. for $127,674,716. This four-lane interstate will stretch nearly 4-miles between XNA and the Springdale Bypass. It will include 11 bridges, an interchange at the project’s south end, and a tie-in to Highway 264. The estimated completion date is late 2027.

“When complete, these two new sections of highway will improve traffic flow for the growing Northwest Arkansas region, providing safe, modernized roadways,” said ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor. “These projects would not have been possible without assistance and partnership from our U.S. Congressional Delegation including Senator Boozman and Representative Womack, the XNA Airport Authority, and the City of Springdale.”
