The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), in coordination with the Oklahoma DOT, will conduct a public involvement meeting Thursday, June 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Siloam Springs to discuss the U.S. Highway 412 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study.
The meeting will be held at John Brown University (Simmons Great Hall), 2000 W. University Street, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
This is the third in-person meeting regarding the U.S. Highway 412 PEL Study. ARDOT is working jointly with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to study the feasibility of a future Interstate from Interstate 35 in Oklahoma to Interstate 49 in Arkansas, approximately 190 miles.
A PEL Study is a formal process that allows data collected at the planning stage to be utilized during the next phase of environmental review, eliminating duplication of work. At the first public meeting, attendees were able to view the Draft Purpose and Need and Baseline Conditions Report. At the second public meeting, attendees were able to review the Universe of Alternatives and Alternatives Screening Methodology, which described how transportation solutions were being explored. At this third public meeting, attendees will be able to review the findings of the Alternatives Analysis.
This will be an open forum meeting with no formal presentation. The public is invited to visit anytime during the scheduled hours to view exhibits, ask questions, and provide comments.
Those who cannot attend the meeting in person will be able to review meeting content online. The public can access the online meeting materials and make comments Tuesday, June 4, through Friday, June 28.
