Weather permitting, Highway 71B (Towson Avenue) in Fort Smith will be resurfaced beginning in early July, with work expected to take about one month.

To limit traffic disruptions, lane closures will be limited to overnight hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.

This pavement preservation project will mill and overlay 3.8 miles of Towson Avenue in Fort Smith between Highway 64 (Garrison Avenue) and Highway 271.

The job was awarded to Forsgren Inc. in February 2024 for approximately $2.6 million.

The work was originally scheduled to take place throughout the month of June but was delayed due to weather and scheduling issues.
