Construction of the new Highway 62 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard)/Interstate 49 (I-49) interchange in Fayetteville will require permanently closing of a portion of South Futrall Drive beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, August 5.
South Futrall Drive will permanently close just south of West Best Way Street and the entrance to the Best Western Windsor Suites and remain closed to the point where South Futrall Drive turns east and becomes 18th Street. See attached map for details.
The closure will allow the connection of West 15th Street to South Futrall Drive, and an overpass over I-49 connecting South Futrall Drive to South Shiloh Drive. The connection of West 15th Street to South Futrall Drive and South Shiloh Drive will provide east/west connectivity for south Fayetteville and is the first phase of construction for the new Highway 62/I-49 interchange.
Barricades marking the closure will be placed at the west end of 18th Street near the 18th Street Train shop, and on South Futrall Drive just south of the entrance to Best Western Windsor Suites.
