Philip Taldo, of Springdale, was elected Chairman of the Arkansas Highway Commission at the December 4 business meeting of the Arkansas Highway Commission, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.
Taldo replaces Alec Farmer, of Jonesboro as Chairman effective January 1, 2025.
Farmer announced at that same meeting that he is stepping down as Chairman, December 31, 2024. He was first appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson in January of 2015 and will complete his 10-year term on the Commission in January 2025.
Taldo lives and works in Springdale where he is a real estate broker, investor, and developer. He is a Northwest Arkansas native, born December 19, 1950, in Tontitown and attended Springdale High School and the University of Arkansas.
He is married to Mary Ann Zulpo-Taldo, with 3 daughters and 9 grandchildren. Philip is a member of Northwest Arkansas National Airport Authority, Northwest Arkansas Council, ARVEST Bank Director, and was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson as a Arkansas State Highway Commissioner in 2017. He currently serves as Vice Chairman.
