A segment of State Highway 255 (Zero Street) in Fort Smith will be closed to traffic starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, August 20 for approximately 24 hours.
The closure is scheduled at the railroad crossing immediately east of the intersection of Highway 71B and Highway 255 to allow Fort Smith Patriot Rail crews to repair the railroad crossing.
Drivers can use the following detours:
Westbound traffic
- South on I-540 to Exit 12 (Highway 71)
- North on Highway 71B
Eastbound traffic
- South on Highway 71B to I-540 North
- North on I-540 to Exit 11 (Zero Street)
Traffic will be controlled with the use of barrels, barricades, message boards, and signage.
Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
