SALINE COUNTY | September 29, 2023
Construction to widen Interstate 30 (I-30) to six lanes in Saline County requires an overnight ramp closure for the I-30 eastbound exit to Highway 67 from 9 p.m. Monday, October 2 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 3 in Benton.
Weather permitting, crews will close the I-30 eastbound exit ramp to Highway 67 (Exit 114) to allow crews to shift ramp traffic onto its new alignment adjacent to I-30 eastbound.
I-30 eastbound traffic will be unable to use the Highway 67 exit ramp (Exit 114) during this closure and should follow the signed detour to access Highway 67. See attached detour map NR 23-332-A. The detour is as follows:
- Continue East on I-30 to Exit 116 (Sevier and South streets)
- Take Exit 116 and crossover I-30 on South Street Bridge
- West on I-30 and take Exit 114 (Highway 67 South)
Once the exit ramp to Highway 67 (Exit 114) is reopened, the new alignment will take I-30 eastbound ramp traffic directly to Highway 67, where vehicles will come to a complete stop. There will be two turning lanes at the stop – one for traffic turning north (left lane) and the other for traffic turning south (right lane) onto Highway 67. See attached map NR 23-332-B for more information. This temporary alignment will remain in place for the foreseeable future as part of the construction.
Traffic will be controlled with message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
