‘Superload’ to be Transported Along Arkansas Highways

NORTHEAST ARKANSAS | January 25, 2024

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will assist with the transport of an extremely oversized load, known as a “superload,” along Arkansas Highways in Northeast Arkansas on Sunday, January 28.

Arkansas Highway Police and ARDOT will assist escort crews as they transport a large silo lid from the Missouri State line through Fulton, Sharp, Independence, Jackson, Craighead, and Mississippi counties to the Big River Steel Mill near Osceola.

The silo lid weighs approximately 220,000 pounds, or 110 tons, and measures approximately 16 feet tall and 28 feet wide.  

The operation is expected to begin at dawn and to be completed by 1 p.m. Sunday, January 28.
