Erica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a Registered Professional Engineer. She began her career with the Department as an Engineering Intern before being hired in August 2002 as a Civil Engineer in Roadway Design. In February 2003, Erica transferred to the Program Management Division, where she continued to advance along the civil engineering career path.

In May 2021, Erica was promoted to Assistant Division Head of the Program Management Division and then to Division Head in May 2023.

In January 2025, Erica was appointed Assistant Chief Engineer for Planning.
