The GIS & Data Management Section is responsible for:

  • Acquisition, creation, organization, management, utilization, and analysis of spatial and non-spatial data
  • Development of web mapping applications and websites to streamline workflows and communicate internally, with the other agencies, and with citizens throughout the transportation planning process
  • Creation of a large variety of maps, figures, and displays for NEPA documents and other Department documents, correspondence, and meetings associated with Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, Public Involvement, and Assessments
  • Liaison with federal, state, and local agencies on data sharing methods, processes, updates, and procedures
  • Creation, maintenance, collection assistance, methodology development, and distribution of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) equipment, data dictionaries, and data management
  • Provide training, administration, and troubleshooting of GIS & GNSS applications as well as provide general IT solutions in the Division
