The Natural Resources Section is responsible for:

  • Applying procedures, laws, standards, and regulations pertaining to the National Environmental Policy Act process, including compliance with Sections 401, 402, and 404 of the Clean Water Act; Sections 10 and 14 (Section 408) of the Rivers and Harbors Appropriation Act of 1899; Sections 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act; Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918
  • Coordinating with federal, state, and local natural resource agencies to obtain any necessary clearances and maintain compliance with environmental permits and regulations throughout the life of the project
  • Management of the Department’s stream, wetland, and conservation mitigation program
  • Management of the Department’s stormwater program—National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Programs
  • Management of the Department’s Wildflower Programs
  • Coordinating environmental clearance for requested off-site use areas
