Alternating southbound and northbound lane closures are scheduled on Interstate 540 (I-540) Monday, April 22 through Tuesday, April 30 for a routine bridge inspection.

Weather permitting, bridge crews will inspect I-540 across the Arkansas River in Fort Smith from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. The outside lane in either direction will be closed during the inspection. At least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

Traffic will be controlled with the use of cones and signage.

Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
