Highway 63 to Close Near Bono for Military Training Exercise

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY | August 1, 2024

Highway 63 near Bono will be closed overnight from midnight to mid-morning Sunday, August 4, for a military training exercise.

Highway 230 from County Road 137 to Highway 63 Business also will be closed during the same timeframe.

See the attached map for closure and detour information.

Weather permitting, the U.S. Air Force will use Highway 63 as a temporary airstrip to land military aircraft.

The training exercise could be moved up to Saturday, August 3, if inclement weather is predicted Sunday.

Traffic will be controlled with the use of barrels, barricades, and signage.

The U.S. Air Force is coordinating with the Arkansas Department of Transportation, local law enforcement, and emergency agencies to conduct the highway closure safely and with minimal disruption to the community.

For the safety of the public and military personnel conducting the exercise, the public is asked to not gather or attempt to approach the area.
