What is the OJT/SS  Program?

The On-the-Job Training Supportive Services (OJT/SS) Program is a program of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), that assists State Transportation Agencies (STAs) in the development and enhancement of their job training and apprenticeship programs using Federal assisted funds. OJT/SS complements the FHWA On-the-Job Training Program and was created to increase the pool of qualified women, minorities, and disadvantaged individuals in the highway construction industry.

Program Objectives:

Develop outreach services in order to increase women, minorities, and disadvantaged individual’s (trainees) participation in the highway construction industry.

Provide highway construction hands-on training programs to increase the level of skills needed in the highway construction industry for trainees.

Provide skills training aimed at increasing the overall participation of trainees in the highway constructions industry.

Provide resources for the trainees who participate in the program.

Ensure equal opportunity exists in the highway construction industry.

Certify trainees after completing the program with the skillset of a trained classification.
