Improvements on Highway 122 Require Temporary Highway Closure Near Newark

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY (7-3) – Improvements on State Highway 122 will require a
temporary highway closure approximately eight miles north of Newark, according to
Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.


Weather permitting, crews will close State Highway 122 approximately eight miles north of
Newark beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9. This closure will allow crews to make
improvements to a bridge over Carter Creek. The closure will remain in place until project
completion, which is expected to be two weeks. Please refer to the attached map for
recommended detour routes.


Traffic will be controlled with signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution
when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
