INDEPENDENCE COUNTY (1-15) – A section of State Highway 69 will be temporarily closed
and under width restrictions during repair work, according to Arkansas Department of
Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting; crews will close State Highway 69 between the Independence Co.
Fairgrounds and the intersection of U.S. Highway 167 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday, starting on Tuesday, January 15. After hours there will be a single lane
open with temporary signal lights. These closures will be in place while crews repair
drainage structures underneath the highway and the work is anticipated to require 4-6
weeks.
Due to the width restrictions, trucks will need to use the designated detour route at all times.
Traffic on State Highway 69B will need to travel State Highway 69S to U.S. Highway 167 and
then to the intersection of U.S. Highway 167 and State Highway 69.
Traffic will be controlled with signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution
when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel
information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on
