SALINE COUNTY (5-17) – Construction to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes in Saline County
requires overnight lane closures, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT)
officials.
Weather permitting, eastbound and westbound I-30 will alternately close lanes in various areas
between Sevier Street/South Street (Exit 116) and the U.S. Hwy. 70 interchange (Exit 111) for
pavement striping, barrier wall placement and pavement operations. Lane closures are expected
to begin Monday night, May 20 during nighttime hours for approximately three weeks.
- Westbound I-30 will alternately close the inside and outside lanes beginning Monday
night, May 20. Lanes will be closed between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The I-30 on-ramp west of Carpenter Street will be closed on May 20 and 21 only. Traffic
an use the on-ramp west of South Street. - Eastbound I-30 will alternately close the inside and outside lanes beginning Tuesday
night, May 21. Lanes will be closed between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
During this three-week period, no lane closures will occur during the Memorial Day
weekend from Friday, May 24 at 6:00 a.m. to Tuesday, May 28 at 9:00 p.m., or on Saturday
nights into Sunday mornings. Interstate traffic will be controlled with construction barrels and
signage. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone. Areas adjacent to
the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes
widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with
U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). More information on this $187.3
