Routine Bridge Inspection Requires Temporary Lane Closures on Interstate 40 Mississippi River Bridge

CRITTENDEN COUNTY (8-27) – A routine bridge inspection requires temporary lane
closures on the I-40 Mississippi River Bridge, according to Arkansas Department of
Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday September 5 the outside
westbound lane will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additionally an outside lane
closure, starting on the westbound and moving to the eastbound side, will be required
Monday, September 9 through Thursday, September 12. A westbound lane closure may
be in place between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or an eastbound lane closure may be in place from
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Traffic will be controlled by signage and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution when
approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information
