Construction Requires Temporary Highway Closure in Mississippi County

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY (6-10) – Construction along Highway 198 between U.S. Highway 61
and State Highway 239 requires a temporary road closure, according to Arkansas
Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, railroad crews will close Highway 198 between U.S. Highway 61 and
State Highway 239 beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13 to reconstruct the railroad
crossing. Detours will direct traffic around this area by using alternate routes (see attached
map). This closure is anticipated to be completed by 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 14.

This project, Job 100980, is to overlay and reconstruct approximately 1.982 miles of
Highway 198 in Mississippi County. The contract was awarded to Delta Asphalt of Arkansas,
Inc. for the amount of $2,647,422.60. The project is estimated to be complete in late 2020.

Traffic will be controlled with signage and barricades. Drivers should exercise caution when
approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information
