Construction Requires Weekend Closure of Highway 82 in Magnolia

COLUMBIA COUNTY (2-4) – Construction to widen Highway 82 in Magnolia requires closing a section of Highway 82 over the weekend, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will close Highway 82 between Highway 371 and County Road 13 to replace the railroad crossing surface and signals east of Harvey Couch Boulevard. The road closure will begin Friday, February 5 at 6 p.m. and continue through Sunday, February 7 at 6 p.m.

Detour routes will be in place for local and truck traffic. See attached map NR 21-032-A for the detour routes.

  • Local traffic detours south and uses North Washington, West University and Highway 82B/Vine Avenue.
  • Truck traffic detours north and uses Highway 79, Highway 98 and Highway 371.

Traffic will be controlled by barriers, signage, and detour routes. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.

This project (Job CA0705) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program to widen approximately 5.5 miles of Highway 82 to four lanes between County Road 27 and Highway 79 in Columbia County. More information on this $34.2 million construction project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
