Improvements to Highway 27 Mean Temporary Road Closure to Replace Drainage Structures

YELL COUNTY (2-22) – Improvements to Highway 27 mean a temporary road closure to replace culverts, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will close Highway 27 starting from Forrest Service Rd. 75 (at the top of Danville Mtn.) to Forrest Service Rd. 728 at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, and continuing until work is complete. This closure will allow crews to replace roadway culverts and is anticipated to last for two days. Drivers should find an alternate route during this time.

The purpose of this project (080541) is to resurface and improve 8.8 miles of Highway 27 in Yell County between Highways 28 and 80. The project was let to contract in May 2020 and awarded to Blackstone Construction, LLC, for $2,978,939.49. It is expected to be complete in mid-2021.

Traffic will be controlled by barricades and signage. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
