PULASKI COUNTY (5-14) – Construction on Interstate 30 in North Little Rock will require a significant weekend closure of I-30 westbound from the North Terminal Interchange at I-40 to Broadway Street, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will close all I-30 westbound lanes between the I-40 interchange and Broadway Street in North Little Rock starting on Friday night, May 21 at 10 p.m. and continuing through Monday morning, May 24 at 5 a.m.
- Local traffic to downtown North Little Rock will use I-40 to detour to Pike Avenue (Exit 152)
- Through traffic will use I-40 to detour to I-440 (Exit 159) or I-430 (Exit 153).
In addition, the southbound frontage road on-ramp at Curtis Sykes to I-30 westbound will be closed during this time. Traffic will detour westbound on Curtis Sykes Drive and take Main Street southbound to Broadway Street and the I-30 westbound on-ramp.
As part of this weekend work, the I-30 eastbound left lane will be closed between the river and Bishop Lindsey Avenue from Friday night, May 21 at 8 p.m. to Monday morning, May 24 at 5 a.m.
These operations are part of a maintenance of traffic plan for the interstate bridge north of Broadway Street. Crews will shift eastbound and westbound I-30 lanes to the east and demolish the existing westbound bridge. This single weekend closure will reduce the number of nightly lane closures required by approximately two weeks, thereby reducing the risk and exposure to motorists as well as construction personnel.
See attached detour maps NR 21-127-A and NR 21-127-B. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
