FAULKNER COUNTY (5-21) – Everyone is invited to attend the groundbreaking event for construction of the Union Pacific Railroad overpass of Highways 89 and 365 in Mayflower, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
On Tuesday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. ARDOT officials, Highway Commissioners, Legislators, News Media and the public will gather in Mayflower to celebrate breaking ground on this project. To find the Event Location from I-40 take Exit 135 and turn west (see attached map).
In 1997, the Metroplan Board made a commitment to build 12 new regional railgrade separations. A railgrade separation is a roadway that is re-aligned over or under a railway to eliminate hazards, improve safety and decrease traffic congestion. Mayflower will be the 11th new railgrade separation to break ground.
This project’s funding came from ARDOT, Metroplan, Faulkner County, and the City of Mayflower. Metroplan’s commitment has been a partnership with ARDOT partnering or funding 5 of the projects.
