New Traffic Pattern Scheduled for MLK Boulevard in Fayetteville

WASHINGTON COUNTY | April 24, 2025

Weather permitting, a permanent change in traffic flow is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29 on South Futrall Drive just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (MLK Blvd.) in Fayetteville.

This change is being made to accommodate the construction of a traffic lane that will eventually allow motorists to travel from South Futrall Drive to South Shiloh Drive (south of MLK Blvd.) without having to travel through signalized intersections.  This work is part of the new MLK Blvd. Interchange project.

The following routes will be impacted:

  • Westbound MLK Blvd. Traffic will no longer be able to turn left onto South Futrall Drive.
  • Eastbound MLK Blvd. Traffic will no longer be able to turn right onto South Futrall Drive.

South Futrall Drive will be permanently striped and signed to allow northbound only traffic south of MLK Blvd.

The current configuration of the northbound off-ramp at MLK Blvd. will remain in place.
