ARDOT Officials Gather in Northeast Arkansas for two Highway Project Events

MISSISSIPPI & CLAY COUNTIES (11-16) – Members of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) administration, Arkansas Highway Commissioners, and local area officials will gather to celebrate two events in northeast Arkansas this week.

On Thursday, November 18 at 9:30 a.m., local leaders will join ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor and Arkansas Highway Commission Vice Chairman Alec Farmer in Manila, Arkansas, to celebrate the completion of the widening of Highway 18 in Mississippi County.

Job CA1002, part of the Connecting Arkansas Program (CAP), widened Highway 18 to four lanes for 1.8 miles and included a center-paved median. W. G. Yates & Sons was awarded the $35.5 million contract. Construction began in December 2016 and was completed in September 2021.

After the Highway 18 ribbon cutting in Manila, officials will travel to the Clay County Courthouse in Piggott, Arkansas, to break ground symbolically for the Highway 62 improvement project. This event is set to begin at 12:30 p.m.

The Piggott project consists of constructing three roundabouts and one traffic signal on Highway 62 in Piggott. R.L. Persons Construction, Inc. was awarded the $3.8 million contract. The estimated completion date is late 2022.
